How does it work

How does numobile leasing work?

Leasing allows you to ‘have’ the phone you want, without having to pay full price. 

How? Your monthly repayments are reduced because you send the phone back at the end of the lease (and we can find the phone a new home – extending its useful life). You can then upgrade to the latest phone available in our store. Don’t own it – nupay it.

How to get started?

Choose your favourite phone(s) and sign-up online to get it sent to your house!

You will need to check-out with one phone at a time. Once your first order has been shipped, you will be able to add an additional phone on lease (to a maximum of 3 phones).

Signing up is easy

It’s an all-online application and should take no longer than 10 minutes. 

During your lease

Make 24 payments over 24-months and then send your phone back. You can then upgrade to the latest phone. 

I prefer to keep the phone, why should I lease?

Leasing is the most affordable way to get your hands on the latest phones. 

How? 

You don’t need to pay any big upfront price and your repayments are reduced because you send your phone back at the end of the lease (where we can find it a new home – instead of adding to that pile of old electronics in the back of your drawer) and you can then upgrade to the latest phone we have available. Win-win!

Our phones are also SIM-free, meaning you can choose a SIM plan that best suits your needs, which could mean more savings!

If you’re still attached to your phone once your lease is over, you can get in touch with our support team who can go discuss potential purchase options we may be able to offer you at that time. 

    What phones can I lease through numobile?

    You can lease selected models of the iPhone 12 range, which includes iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. 

    How long is my lease for?

    How long is my lease for?

    Our leases are for 24 months. Once the 24 months is up, you will need to send back your phone and you can then upgrade to a new one. 

    If you do not return your phone when the lease ends, a non-return fee equal to your monthly lease payment is payable at the beginning of each month thereafter until the earlier of 6 months or your return of the phone to us.

    If the phone you return to us is damaged, a damage fee will apply. See our damage policy for details as to when my phone will be considered to be damaged.  

    If you would like to cancel your lease earlier than the end of the lease, you will have to get in contact with our customer support team to consider your circumstances and what we may be able to offer to you at that time.

    I have a phone on a plan with you already, can I add a phone lease as well?

    Yes, you can! If you do have multiple phones on a plan and are having issues checking out, please reach out to our support team so we can help.

    Can I cancel my lease at anytime?

    See below for the circumstances in which you may be able to cancel your lease and what you would need to do to cancel your lease.

    Within 30 days of purchasing

    If your phone is still in the original packaging, with the box still sealed, you’re able to return your phone – you can do this through the My Account portal on our website. 

    If you would prefer to keep your phone but cancel your lease within 30 days, you can get in touch with our customer support team to talk through your options.

    After 30 days of purchasing but before the end of the lease term (24 months)

    You will not be able to return your phone during this time. If you would like to purchase the phone, please contact our customer support team to talk through your options.

    What's the benefits of leasing?

    Leasing allows you to be on the latest phones for a great price. Buying a new phone can be costly – either you have to pay a big cost upfront, or they’re usually only available on plans when combined with higher value SIM plans.

    With nu, you can lease your favourite phone and pay for it monthly, without a SIM plan attached – and get yourself a SIM plan that matches your needs (which could also mean more savings!). We’ve got some nifty plans that you can check out here.

    Our leases are for 24 months and after that, you will need to return the phone and you can choose to upgrade to a new phone. If you’re attached to the phone you have, you can contact our customer support team to see what options may be available to you in order to buy that phone. 

    Do I own the phone I'm leasing?

    No, when you are leasing you do not own the phone unless you decide to buy it. Once your 24-months is up, the lease is up and you will need to return the phone to us. 

    Prefer to keep the phone? No worries. You can contact our customer support team to talk through your options.

    Am I able to return my lease phone?

    You can return your phone within 30 days of the purchase date in original condition with the original packaging still unopened and sealed. 

    If you have opened the packaging, you will need to contact our customer support team to discuss your options.

    Are the phones on a lease brand new or refurbished?

    The phones available for lease are brand new and in original manufacturer’s packaging with original accessories. See what comes in the box.

    What is a SIM-free, phone only lease?

    When you lease the phone with us there will be no SIM plan attached. 

    This means that you can pay for the phone with monthly payments and find the perfect SIM plan for your needs – which means you can save on your phone and on your SIM plan. Win-win!

    What happens to my phone once I return at the end of my lease?

    When you return the phone, our technicians will assess the phone and decide what the best outcome for each phone would be. No matter the condition of the phone, we will always find it a new home.

    Signing-up

    What will I need to sign-up?

    Signing up is easy and should take less than 10 minutes through an all-online application. You will need:

    • • a phone
    • • an internet connection
    • • at least 1 valid photo ID (needs to be your physical ID and it must be either your passport or drivers’ license)

    And finally, you can do it from wherever suits you! 

    Is an ID and credit check required to sign-up?

    Yes, we perform an ID and credit check for all new phone lease customers and we also want to make sure that the person buying behind the screen is the same person’s details that are being used. Make sure to double-check all the details that you enter so there are no delays with your application.

    What if I don't have a driver's license or passport?

    Unfortunately, you won’t be able to complete the sign-up process without these documents. Please make sure that your ID documents are current, as the application won’t process if your documents are expired.

    Can I buy mutiple phones?

    Yes, one thing to note is that you will have to check out with one phone at a time.

    I used my Medicare card last time I signed-up, why can’t I use it now?

    We require a photo ID to complete the sign-up process which will mean that you won’t be able to use your Medicare card. If you do not have a photo ID such as a drivers’ licence or passport unfortunately you won’t be able to complete the sign-up process at this time.

    Why do I need a smartphone to sign-up?

    You will need your phone during the sign-up process to take photos during the ID verification section of the sign-up process. If you don’t have access to your phone, you will not be able to complete the sign-up process. 

    Who are Truuth and why have you partnered with them?

    Truuth helps us digitally verify our customers through an easy online process and prevent potential fraud.

    Which is better for you (if someone tries to steal your identity) and for us – because we want to sell our products to real customers.

    My ID wasn't verified, what should I do?

    That happens sometimes! Wait for an email from us that will give you more info on what you will need to do (if there is anything to do) to finalise your order. 

    I’m having trouble completing my order, what can I do?

    Sorry that you’re having trouble – best to get in touch with our customer support team via live chat or email so they can help you out.

    To make sure we can help you the best we can, please include screenshots or be prepared to provide detail around where you got stuck. 

    Having issues?

    How does the warranty work for lease phones?

    Since the phones are brand-new, you have the benefit of warranties from the manufacturer as well as from us. We'll need to give you a few things before you head down to your nearest Apple store so it's a smooth process for you. Please fill out the warranty form here to get started.

    What happens if I lose the phone I am leasing?

    If your phone is lost or stolen, you need to report this to the police and give us a call when you can as we may be able to block the phone IMEI, which could block the phone from being used.

    You can then contact us to discuss the potential buy-out of the phone. If you have Home & Contents Insurance to check with your provider if the incident would be covered by them. 

    What if I damage the phone I'm leasing?

    You will have two options if you damage your phone:

    1. You can contact us to discuss the potential buy-out of the phone 
    2. Continue your contract, and return the phone at the end of the lease term and pay a damage fee depending on the extent of the damage. See damage fees here.

    What is in the box?

    Who is your delivery partner?

    All our phones are delivered by our delivery partner Star Track. You will receive tracking information via email once your phone leaves our warehouse. 

    What if there's a problem with my delivery?

    That’s a bummer! We want all our customers to have a great experience – so if you had a problem with your delivery, please get in touch with our customer support team so we can try to help you out.

    What comes in the box?

    All our lease phones are brand new and come in the original manufacturer’s box with original accessories.

    What you will receive is your chosen phone and a USB-C to Lightning Cable. 

    Payments

    How do I check my lease payments?

    You can keep track of your lease online on our website in the My Account portal. 

    There you can see when your next payment is due, download all your invoices and see the phones that you have on your current lease and when the lease is due to end. 

    Where can I get my invoices for my lease?

    You can keep track of your lease online on our website in your My Account portal. 

    There you can see when your next payment is due, download all your invoices, and see the phones that you have on your current lease and when the lease is due to end. 

    What happens if I miss a lease payment?

    We will try to take a payment from the credit card that’s on your account every day or you can go into the My Account portal to pay. 

    If payments aren’t made late fees may apply and if consecutive payments are missed, your lease may be terminated and you may be liable for termination charges.

    Can I add more items to my lease?

    Yes, you can add more items to your lease at a later date (to a maximum of 3 phones).

    How do I update my card details?

    To update your card details, just log into your My Account portal and then go to the ‘Payment details and history’ section, where you can add your new card. 

    Please note by updating your card, will update it for all billing and payment options across the account.

    How can I keep track of my lease?

    You can keep track of your lease online on our website in the My Account portal. 

    There you can see the phones that you are leasing, what your monthly payments are when your next payment is due, and when your lease is due to end.

    Through the portal, you will also be able to download all your invoices, pay any overdue bills and change your payment details. 

    Where can I update my account details?

    Need to change your address? Or got a new contact number? Update your details going into your My Account portal. Scroll down to the ‘Personal details’ section and select what you would like to update. 

    Please note, there are sections you won’t be able to update – such as your name. If you need to change that, please get in touch with our customer support team so they can help.

    How can I cancel my lease?

    We’ll be sad to see you go, but if you’ve decided leasing is not for you, you will be able to cancel your lease by contacting our customer support team so they can go through your options with you. 

    End of lease term

    How do I upgrade?

    You’ll be able to upgrade directly from the My Account portal on our website. Once your 24 months is up, you can log into your account and click the ‘upgrade’ button under the ‘Order history’ section. 

    What happens at the end of my lease (at 24 months)?

    Once the 24-month lease term is up, your lease will end and you will need to send back your phone. You can also then upgrade to a new one. 

    If you do not return your phone when the lease ends, a non-return fee equal to your monthly lease payment is payable at the beginning of each month thereafter until the earlier of 6 months or your return of the phone to us.

    Can I upgrade before my 24 month is up?

    Unfortunately, we don’t have any early upgrade options available at this stage. If you signed up to a 24-month lease, you will only be able to upgrade or return your phone once your 24-months is up.
